How was your 2017?

Take time to reflect on the past year, and look forward to the new one ahead.

As we near the end of 2017, I have been working with clients on the goals they would like to achieve for 2018. You may have started the year by setting the intention to lose weight or balance work and family better but find there's further work to do. A common reason that new years resolutions don't pan out the way we had hoped is the lack of a systematic process of revision, examination and implementation. With that in mind, I invite you to join me on a reflection exercise I’m also doing for myself. So let’s bring about those wishes and intentions and look out for my article in January 2018 where we will talk about how to turn your goals into reality.

Reflection Exercise

Make sure you have 30 mins - 1 hr uninterrupted time and find a quiet and comfortable place to reflect on your 2017. Download the reflection form, or write them out in your journal and don't let your phone distract you! I have started going through the exercise and have included some of my reflections below for your inspiration.

I am proud of...

establishing a mentoring and support group of my peers

creating a meditation community at the clinic

working with an NGO to provide counseling service for the homeless

Things I'd like to improve on...

to better incorporate exercise into my life

sticking to a schedule to allow time for things that are most important to me

be more comfortable with social media

What I’ve learned in my professional & personal life...

it’s crucial to be surrounded by like-minded people

invest and maintain in good friendships

let go of things that are no longer important

don’t be scared to chase after what you are passionate about

Takeaways from my personal and professional life...

equilibrium is the point where everything equals out

a rising tide lifts all boats
